Pilgrim Body

“Pilgrim Body”

Untethered from the Familiar
Each moment becomes
a homecoming,
A never seen ——— most intimate.

We are merging
into one body
Perhaps
have always been
Thus
my heart and his mind
her hand and my Foot
his smile and my tears
glittering fragments
gathered and met ——
a Eucharist of men and women
Every one of us as common as a stone,
and as essential.

I once knew a beautifull young poet. She was thoughtfull in action and kind in deed. She had suffered more hart-ache and saddness by her twenty-first year than a mercifull God would allow in a lifetime. Yet, she had a core faith in a compassionate and loving Creator. We had talked of marrage and the joy of raising children(Jonathin and little Anna)together. But, as so often happens our lives took different paths. Writting this takes me back to Norman twenty years ago and has me hoping that you knew how much I cared for you, and wondering what might have been.
